As we embark on the joyous holiday season and bid farewell to 2025, it's a time for reflection and appreciation. The year has been a remarkable journey, filled with triumphs and challenges, both on and off the field.
On the pitch, our club's achievements are a source of immense pride. We qualified for Europe once again, showcasing our resilience and skill. The BetMcLean Cup victory is a testament to our team's spirit and determination. And let's not forget our Ladies team, who continue to inspire with their success, and our Academy sides, whose progress is a beacon of hope for the future.
But here's where it gets controversial... off the pitch, we've managed to maintain a modest profitability, a feat that is essential for the long-term survival of any club. In an era where financial sustainability is a constant battle, we've scored highly in the NI Football Fund application process, positioning ourselves at the forefront for much-needed stadium funding.
However, amidst the celebrations, we must also acknowledge the bittersweet nature of this festive season. A year ago, we lost a beloved member of our Cliftonville family, Michael Newberry. His passing left an indelible mark on us all, and as we gather during this time of year, our thoughts and prayers are with Michael's family, friends, and our players, who knew him best.
While we honor Michael's memory, which will forever be a part of our club's legacy, I, on behalf of the Management Committee, extend my warmest wishes to each and every one of you - our players, staff, volunteers, and supporters. May your Christmas be filled with joy and love, and may 2026 bring us even greater triumphs, both on and off the field.
And this is the part most people miss... the true beauty of our club lies not just in our victories, but in the resilience and unity we foster. So, as we look forward to the new year, let's embrace the spirit of Cliftonville and continue to write our success story together.
